We’re now doing things the way Riess always wanted, which is to do lots of basic layout in advance and then come back and fill in. It might take awhile, but here’s a peek.

Just a heads up:

I didn’t quite find the time to catch up; the next page is under construction but likely won’t be ready on time.
I’d rather stick with Monday night for updates than just kick it out at unpredictable times during the week, so look out for an update next week.

Okay that’s the entirety of Chapter 2 restored to the new format. Riess is still sick from travel but he works, he works!

Note to future self: do not adopt a needlessly complex nomenclature for files in the future. PAGE NUMBERS ARE FINE.

Sorry to let you down on the deadline guys. I’m living in a sea of cardboard boxes at the moment. Most of the boxes in the living room are empty. My wife tells me, on the phone, that there are some teacups I apparently brought up over Thanksgiving, only I don’t remember unpacking them, which means they’re lurking somewhere in all the boxes and wadded up paper in the KITCHEN. Almost all of those boxes are empty, except for the ones that contain appliances I have not yet found a place for but would like to use at some point (a cool hand blender and a deep fryer) and then one that I repacked with old dishes that need a home, and then dishes which we are going to keep but we do not have shelf space for. (Protip: if you register for dishes, make sure they will fit in your cabinets– I had to put in a stealth shim to prop open the cabinet door so it doesn’t crash into the plates every time it tries to close.) I am just bitching. I have a hard enough time keeping all my dumb shit organized and then I get all of this awesome stuff from people who love us and I have nowhere to put it.

Sometime, I’m going to brew beer!

Okay I’ve worked out how to get the content back after the plugin upgrade, it’s just a tedious process of reassigning images to each post one by one. The archives are rather desolate at the moment. Stuff like “holy crap squid why are the fonts so large” will come later.

Seriously, we’re out of script, I’m getting married in like two weeks, I still haven’t finished cleaning out my apartment to make way for my bride to move in from across the country. I AM CALLING A HIATUS.

Check back January 15th (sooner for SPECIAL HOLIDAY BONUS CONTENT). We’ll have had time to regroup then, and we’ll see the exciting end of this chapter soon.

If you’re not periodically checking Keith Thompson’s Art page you’re really doing yourself a disservice. If you want cred in the form of text, he did concept art for the Eridian robots and weaponry in Borderlands 1. If you want to see pure awesome, click here.

It’s not just the artwork though, he has these creepy-ass stories written about these things, some of them are really amazing. (The legs dangling from the midsection of that robot thing should be a clue.)

Big excite. Riess just wants to sleep on this page before putting it up. Then it’s on to the next page already in progress etc. Perhaps some normalcy will resume afterwards.
